When it comes to seeking appealing holiday activities, mothers and daughters are usually on the same page, whether it's lounging in luxury spas or shopping in local markets, this makes them the best of travel companions. If you do decide to take a break with your mother or daughter, it's a great idea to do your homework first and check which local attractions are nearby so you can enjoy the ultimate girlie-fun getaway.

To come home feeling like a pair of Greek goddesses, the island of Mykonos offers a heavenly experience. The island is one of the most cosmopolitan of the Greek islands, perfect for fans of Greek culture, food and shopping.

Little boutiques, cafes and bars can all be found within the capital, Mykonos Town. With it's picturesque medieval houses the Little Venice area is an enchanting place to spend an evening out with your mum or daughter. You can sample delicious seafood at the tavernas sitting on the waterfront which provide Greek dishes in a setting where you'll look forward to toasting your holiday.

For mothers and daughters with a sense of adventure an exotic break in Marrakech is just the ticket. The Moroccan city is world-famous for its souks, so it's a great destination for some serious shopping and browsing in its maze-like streets for shiny objects and soft leather goods. A visit to the main square in the old city, known as the Djemma el Fna, is a mother-and-daughter must-do.

The smells, sounds and sights of snake charmers, traders, entertainers and crowds intermingle to create an intoxicating atmosphere. Escape the jostling crowds together by making your way onto one of the rooftop terraces for a drink. It's also an ideal spot for people watching. For a truly memorable experience, take a hot-air balloon ride over the city for an aerial view or head into the desert on a camel safari.
