Front Sight is an organization with headquarters in Las Vegas, Nevada that aims to educate people in firearms usage. Its main purpose is to restore second amendment rights to Americans by presenting a positive image of gun ownership. It does this by offering training classes in firearms and Frontsight ammo at the institute.
The facilities of the organization are quite advanced and are continually being developed and upgraded. As of today, the facility has a 6,000-square-foot classroom area. This area includes more than twenty-five shooting ranges and a rifle range for students to use in their training. There are also live fire simulators, a SWAT tower, a martial arts area and a pro shop. Students can also visit the gunsmith facility and the armory. For an additional fee, students can also train in the VIP training section.
In 2004, the organization acquired property in the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska. This location is known as Front Sight Alaska. Its focus is on outdoorsmanship and activities like big game hunting, kayaking, fishing and bear safety. The organization is continuing to expand. In March 2014, it broke ground on a new condo and time share hotel.
The company also offered free machine gun classes at its new Nevada facility for a brief time from 1998 to 2002. This was done in order to showcase the new facility and headquarters. Every year, a reunion is held on July 4 in celebration of Independence Day, where members are invited to spend a day of activities such as shooting weapons, fireworks and catered food.
The organization has often encountered opposition from other interest groups who advocate against the free use of firearms. They have also had legal difficulties with some of their members. In 2006, the group was sued by certain members for failing to deliver on certain expectations regarding the memberships they purchased. However, a settlement was reached between Front Sight and the disgruntled members in 2007.
As of 2013, there are nearly seventy thousand households with people who are members of the organization. Some of these are lifetime members. Lifetime memberships generally include course certificates. With this certificate, a student can take their first course at the organization for free. These certificates are usually given to family and friends or raffled off in various fundraisers. Sometimes they are donated to law enforcement groups or charities.
Members can receive high discounts or free training at the institute for life. They can also receive guaranteed enrollment in certain courses and discounts on firearms and ammunition purchased from the Pro Shop. They can also receive access to the members section of the group website and an invitation to the reunion held every 4th of July. In January 2012, the organization temporarily suspended lifetime memberships in place of Ambassador Members.
The organization also has its own blog, which is published online every few days. Every post, released on a Monday, is written by the founder Dr. Piazza. He has written over one hundred blog entries in his time. The blog mainly covers such topics as gun ownership, firearms training and Second Amendment issues that may affect gun users. Readers may leave comments on the blog and email responses to Front Sight.
