Cheap Ammo Should Not Be Frowned Upon

The second Amendment allows Americans the ability to "bear arms". This phrase doesn't mean that they should have a military or police grade arsenal in their possession. Available weapons and cheap ammo get into the wrong hands. Lax gun control issues allow criminals to have firepower that is nearly identical to the weapons that soldiers and officers use. School shooters have the ability to take more victims. Black market sales fuel criminal empires that span across the borders. Gun control in America today needs to be reconsidered and enforced.

Some states allow more or less than others. States like Texas have a pretty relaxed attitude about what you can and can't own. They allow individuals to own weapons that would normally be considered only for warfare. Large caliber weapons and automatic weapons can be owned. There are laws in other states that outlaw the same firearms.

Often times, police can find themselves outgunned in the US. Criminals have access to more firearms than in many other western nations. A huge amount of the population are legal gun owners and the market is flooded. Keeping them out of the wrong hands gets more and more difficult with every weapon that is legally sold. It means that there is one more weapon to choose from and the market is flooded that much more.

Allowing small victories in things like gun control are the small steps that a government can take to maintain and build their power. Tyrannical regimes around the world have, historically, controlled who can be armed in order to keep power through force, not democracy. They say that history repeats itself but that's only the case when people let it happen.

The ability of American people to control their government is something that was fundamentally made available through democracy and the process of voting. If the majority of the population wanted gun control, they could achieve it. The fact is that any legislation that gets enacted, it is rigorously battled and defeated.

If having a gun is a crime, the only people who will have them are criminals. Outlawing guns will not stop people from owning them, it will only make it easier for criminals to have the upper hand. Millions of Americans responsibly own firearms and enjoy the security of having them. Those people know that if someone breaks into their home with a knife, the situation is weighed in their favor.

Gun control in America needs to be reconsidered. That phrase is often looked at as if it is a "dirty" thing to say, as if it is unconstitutional and beyond consideration. The fact is that the constitution allows for change if it is enacted by the people. An overhaul of the gun control laws would be good for the American people and the people who are affected by the surplus of weapons.

Americans are lucky enough to have a political process that is, theoretically, influenced by the people who are citizens there. There are strong opinions but the influence has allowed for weapons to be available. As long as the Second Amendment stands, people will be allowed to own firearms, legally, all over the United States of America. Whether you agree or disagree, the issue still stands and is actively debated all over the country. Being involved is a way for everyone to voice their opinion.
