A cruise between these two regions is with no doubt among the greatest world trips. The journey from Panama to Colombia by boat, which takes approximately two days, overshadows any trip by road or air. It is characterized by sailing around the magnificent white sand and isles bounded by swaying palm trees and incredible beaches full of white sand.

Small breakfast and big lunch or big breakfast with small lunch depends on the watercraft that you choose. Meals are served thrice daily mostly comprising of food from sea with pasta or rice. Vegetarians can be accommodated by all cruisers. You may seek to bring supplies like soft drinks and alcohol yourself since they are not offered on the boat.

The cruiser mates can also either make the trip fun or dreadful, getting watercraft mates who are fun, social and those you get along with can make up a wonderful trip. Captains also need to be well informed. They need to know the islands well so that they can give you the right direction.

Passing San Blas Islands via Cartagena is the habitual path to Colombia from Panama. Period spent on the island which is normally two or three days depend on the captain or the conditions of weather at the sea. The captains use their engine in most part of the trip due to the need to move around the reef islands, strong winds and current.

The engine is always noisy and it also helps the vessel get warm, some captains offer trips to the Panama or Colombia using the border which is around four to five day trip where you sail through the entire islands and finish at the Colombian town Sapzurro, avoid the dreadful two day trip across the open ocean.

The vessels are spacious and offer each and everyone on board adequate space for sleep. You can sleep on shared beds with someone but it will still be comfortable. Many of these trips are typically for backpackers on a budget, therefore the accommodation is usually not luxurious, spacious or private. The best thing captains always have an idea of how to make the boat spacious. Most sail boats are small and do not have much room to lie down but never the less this provide nice ventilation and ease access to the outside deck.

Size, quality of services and the captain are among the factors that determine the cost of travel. It is well noting that a cheaper boat does not mean that the trip will be of a low standard but rather means the captain is the one with low costs.

There is a variation of boats that operate between Colombia and Panama. A high quality cruiser will in no doubt have higher cost for the trip. So suppose you get a boat cruising from Panama towards Colombia that serves all meals at pocket friendly cost then you will definitely have got a great deal.
