Leaving on a trip that requires a plane ride is exciting, but getting to the airport and deciding what to do with your car can be stressful. There are so many parking options that it may seem like a daunting task. Luckily, if you live in the Seattle-Tacoma area, there is plenty of safe and reliable parking near Seatac that you can choose from.

The Seattle-Tacoma airport serves a huge swatch of the western portion of Washington state, so it is always very busy. There is lots of demand for places to park close to the terminals, but this may not always be the best option for you. Choosing your best option depends quite a bit on how long you will be gone and how much money you are willing to spend for the sake of convenience.

There is parking available directly on the Seatac property, and lots of people choose to use it because it is so close to the airport. However, you will pay much more for the convenience of being close to the terminals. Short term slots are available for those who will be only gone a day or two because they charge by the hour. They are more expensive, but also very close to the terminals.

Long term has a daily fee instead of hourly and is for people who will be gone more than a day or two, because it is cheaper. The trade-off is that it is also further away from the terminals. You will have to walk for at least a little bit in order to get from these spaces to the counters where you check in for your flight.

There are also a variety of offsite choices for parking that are not owned by the port authority. These are independently operated and get to set their own fees, so the price to use these lots varies greatly. Since they are located outside of the airport, most of these lots provide free shuttle service to and from your car. Some may even offer valet and car washing services for an extra fee.

Some people are worried about leaving their cars in these independently-owned lots, but as long as you pick a long-standing and reputable lot, this should not be a problem. Most of them are fenced in and only people with authorized access are allowed in. Most also have security around the clock so your car is always safe from potential thieves.

Some of these lots fill up really fast, especially around big holidays and long weekends. In those cases, you might want to call ahead and reserve a spot so you are assured a safe place to park. Be aware though that if you do this, some businesses might charge you a fee if you don't show up or need to cancel. Before you reserve, ask what all the potential fees are up front to avoid this kind of unwelcome surprise.

Whether you are traveling for business or for pleasure, finding a place to park for your car at the airport does not have to be a hassle. Parking near Seatac can be easy as long as you know which type of parking you need ahead of time. Then you can enjoy your trip without worries about the safety of your vehicle.
