The history of professional wrestling is long and detailed as captured in some ancient documentaries and literary references. Professional fighting evolved over time to become what it is today. Currently professional fighting is a full time job as opposed to ancient times when it was treated as a leisure activity. Fighting as a leisure activity existed in several different communities. It formed a crucial part of several festivals and ceremonies including initiation.

Cave drawings found in nations such as Babylon, France, and Egypt date back in 13th century. The drawings portrayed a number of the holds in use in modern sport. It was a good source of entertainment for many royal families including princesses, kings, paramount chiefs, and queens. Back then wrestlers fought fellow fighters and sometimes beasts like aggressive bulls.

The result of current staged bout is predestined unlike before. Most bouts are arranged by organizations like FILA and WWE. These associations comprise of a team of professionals whose major work is creativity. They begin and build on staged stories like disagreements amongst wrestlers to make the competition interesting and leave all viewers in anxiety to promote watching.

Professional fighting in certain nations such as Mexico and Japan do not comply with a given predestined plot. The bouts are actual competitions without prearranged outcomes or results. Bouts in such nations are livelier because fighters have the choice of using all tactics including submission grasps and martial art strikes. This makes the bouts unsafe because wrestlers are prone to picking injuries or getting hurt.

One way of reducing cases of injury in this sport is passing laws that require wrestlers to put a protective gear before stepping in the ring. The protective gears may include masks and hand gloves. The masks must have an inner layer of sponges or cushions for protection against the impact of blows. It also reduces chances of wrestlers sustaining basilar skull fracture.

The presenft and modified rules stress on skills then physical strength. Winning is tied to the number of occasions that the fighter pins their challenger on the mat. This sport is for both men and women. Some of the tactics applied in this game are taught to law enforcers as part of the training. The skills obtained give them an upper hand against opponents in cases of self defense.

Professional fighting has many ranks that wrestlers struggle to achieve. Every rank is signified by some form of belt that is given to the champion. Wrestling is well-known around the globe as it features amongst Olympic Games. During such bouts wrestlers of all levels and ages are included and the champions of each category are rewarded by the concerned bodies.

The history of professional wrestling comprises of the evolution and introduction of additional laws and styles in combat sport. As a combat sport it entails grappling methods like joint locks, pins, takedowns, clinch fighting, and grappling holds. Current, historic, and traditional styles are permitted in specific categories where the regulations allow. This sport borrows a lot from martial art. Partnership between wrestlers is allowed in some categories.
