A Day Out On The Boston Freedom Trail Tour

History buffs from all over the country can enjoy interesting and informative tours through one of America's most historic cities. The Boston Freedom Trail tour is about two and a half miles in length and very easy to follow. Visitors can follow a red brick or painted line to show them the way.

Although it is possible to complete the walk in around two or three hours many people can easily spend a day or more really checking out all the sites. There are museums, meeting houses, churches and even burying grounds that all have their own story to tell. Many of the sites are focused on the crucial times when the early American colonies declared their independence from England. It is the perfect opportunity for schools and families to learn about the important history of their country together.

The Trail has an excellent web site that shows visitors all the highlights and gives them a brief description of each. It is possible to walk the entire path in under three hours, then decide which of the stops to go back to. In nice weather many people love to spend a little time relaxing and enjoying the open space of the Commons.

The Boston Common was originally set aside as a place for the local people to graze their animals. It is also the start of the Freedom Trail with an excellent visitor center. Many people stop in to get maps and information leaflets. The staff are very knowledgeable and helpful. They can also provide help for visitors with disabilities or those who need any special help.

Many schools organize class outings to the city throughout the year. There are so many things to do and see and the students get the opportunity to learn about the history of their country. They can really experience the feel of where it all took place and visit authentic sites staffed by people in period costume who are very knowledgeable about the time period.

One of the most famous sites in the Revolutionary War is the massacre site. Most people want to visit this spot where they feel the break from Britain really took place. It is marked by a circle of cobblestones as a memorial to the five colonists who died that day. It was a minor argument between a young apprentice and a British soldier that quickly escalated into a serious conflict

Adams and Franklin were quick to use the incident to their advantage and the massacre became a rallying call for freedom. Visitors will learn all about the lives and achievements of these famous men. There are a choice of ways to enjoy the tours. Many people opt to walk, especially in nice weather.

Trolley tours with guides are also available. They allow visitors to hop on and off at the various stops. This is the perfect way for many people to enjoy a great day out on the Boston Freedom trail tour. They can pick a few of the stops to really spend some time at whilst learning about the history of this great city.
