Visitors and locals alike have been enjoying the spectacular natural beauty of Watch Hill Beach RI for generations. This wonderful area is located only eighty miles south of Boston which makes it perfect for a day out. Of course, many people like to stay for much longer to enjoy not just the sand and surf but also the many attractions the area has to offer.

The beach area is at the end of a natural peninsular that is almost surrounded by crashing surf. The landscape has been populated for many centuries. The local Niantic Indians called the place home well before the Europeans arrived and put their stamp on the area. Because of the strategic importance of the look out this dramatic spot has been well populated and defended for years.

People today are drawn to the area because of the diversity of things to do. Families love the miles of pristine sand and wonderful waters. The kids can easily spend a day playing in the water and building sand castles. Parents and grandparents can relax and enjoy themselves knowing the little ones are having the time of their lives. For those looking for a little more action there is plenty to keep them busy.

The ocean waters offer excellent swimming, although safety should always be a concern. Only strong swimmers should venture out beyond the shallows. The area really is a sailors delight with marine craft of all kinds readily available. Many people want to take a boat trip during their stay. There are fun daytime outings to watch for whales and other marine life. Romantic young couples can also enjoy an evening sail to watch the moon come up over the water.

Many of the hotels are family run. They know what their guests want and need. Service is friendly and any extra needs such as special diets and cribs are not a problem. With so much to do this is the perfect place to get away for a few days. New York City is only about two and a half hours away, putting it within easy distance of a long weekend get away. During the peak summer months it is vital to book early as many places are full months in advance. It is very disappointing to drive all the way only to find there are no rooms available.

Golfers will really enjoy a trip to the Watch Hill area. There are plenty of local courses that offer a challenging round of golf in spectacular scenery. Many people have reported that the courses are among the best they have ever played, with something for all skill levels.

Most people want to stop off and do a little shopping. There are some outstanding local craft stores where shoppers can meet the artisans themselves. Many people are quite happy to show their visitors their unique crafts and even let the kids have a try at making something.

Watch Hill Beach RI is the perfect vacation destination. There really is something for everyone, from families with young children to retirees looking for a quiet off season get away. The summer season offers lots of entertainment. There are concerts in July and August, lobster festivals, art exhibits and museums.
