A trip across the country has the potential to be an incredibly epic experience for any fun loving adventurer. America is a land that is a wonderful blending of thousands of cultures and lifestyles, weather and geographical conditions. Making a collection of state souvenirs is a creative way to track and display all the great stops made on one's journey.

Throughout the USA, there are ample opportunities to get a small experience of numerous different cultures. It is possible to see the simple beauty in the lifestyle and craftsmanship of the Amish up North, savor the delicious goodness of Southern cooking as well as their infamous hospitality and charm. One may wish to enjoy the beautiful ceremonies and pottery of Southwestern Native American tribes or lose oneself in the carefree beach life of the California coast.

There are many reasons for which people decide to travel the country. Sometimes the purpose is to visit a historical site or landmark, or maybe to go somewhere that is deeply steeped in a particular culture. Perhaps one wishes to visit as many zoos or amusement parks as possible or they may just want to claim they have been to a certain state, or all of them.

Regardless of one's personal reason for traveling, collecting special commemorations is quite a common practice. While on the road, locals are probably able to recommend activities that will provide experiences agencies often overlook. There are thousands of ways that one may opt to mark each occasion for their own pleasure or to share a little piece of it with someone else.

Souvenirs can represent many things from the particular region being visited. Perhaps it can show a local landmark, a feature at an amusement park, a sports team from the area, a famous location or any number of items that are symbols of the place. There are also many forms in which these tokens may be purchased, depending on the preferences of the individual for which they are intended.

Tastes are as varied as the people who have them which is why their keepsake buying preferences are not always the same. Some like souvenirs that are uniquely representative of the location, while others like to stick to collections such as shot glasses, thimbles, bells, license tags or decorative spoons and plates. Either way, there are no shortage of choices.

Keepsake shopping may be done at more places than where one may automatically think. When visiting an attraction or landmark, it is fairly safe to assume there will be a gift shop laden with thousands of location themed items to from which to choose. However, many gas stations, drug stores, bookstores, mall kiosks, shopping centers, and flea markets in the area often have very similar memorabilia.

Building a collection of state souvenirs can be a fun way to display all of one's travels in a creative way. They can be casual tokens such as t-shirts, more towards traditional like snow globes, classy such as thimbles or even something off beat and quirky for the element of fun. Everything from key chains to pins, magnets, patches, banks and postcards are all popular keepsakes that all have a multitude of variations in style.
