Queens Charlotte Islands Accommodations Will Suit Every Need And Budget

For many visitors to the popular and beautiful Queens Charlotte Islands accommodations will be surprising in the sense of both price and spaciousness. It is also known as Haida Gwaii, although few people use this ancient name today. The island is roughly triangular, a hundred kilometers wide and three hundred kilometers long. It is only seventy five kilometers from the United States border and just more than seven hundred and fifty km by air from British Columbia, Vancouver.

Haida Gwaii actually consists of a collection of approximately a hundred and fifty different isles. There are two main isles, namely Graham Island in the north and Moresby Island in the south. The combined population is about fifty thousand souls. The two isles are connected with a hundred and fifty kilometers of paving and there is a regular twenty minute ferry service between the two main centers.

A visit to this region would simply not be complete without a special visit to the Haida Gwaii Hanaas National Park. This Word Heritage Site is not only home to some of the most amazing coastal scenes but there are also more than 150 archeological and historical sites that celebrate the age old heritage of the Haida people. The park is overseen by the Council of the Haida Nation and the Canada parks authorities.

There is much to do on these isles. The amenities are modern and the sporting facilities are superb. Golf players will be awed by the magnificent courses available to them. Many other visitors simply explore the isles by boat or by chartered floating plane. The isles are well known for its magnificent deep sea fishing prospects and it is possible to charter a fishing vessel throughout the year.

One of the most popular activities when visiting the Haida Gwaii is to visit the many art galleries and museums. The Haida people have a long history of intricate art works and there many fine example to view and to buy. The isles boast a productive and busy artist population and remarkable indigenous art works can be purchased for next to nothing.

Finding a place to stay is not a problem. The isles cater for all tastes and budgets. There are a number of hotels and motels that can compete with any establishment anywhere in the world. Those that are budget conscious can rent a cabin or they can camp out at one of the many safe and scenic camping sites. Visitors are also spoilt for choice with many fine restaurants.

Tourists have various options regarding transport to the Haida Gwaii. Several airlines operate daily flights from the Vancouver International Airport. It is also fun to travel by ferry, a pleasant and leisurely voyage for those in no hurry. A surprising number of visitors travel with their own vessels because the isles boast excellent mooring facilities. Visitors can make all their arrangements and bookings online.

When traveling to the Queens Charlotte Islands accommodations should not be a problem. There are many options to choose from and facilities to suit every pocket are available. The isles offer visitors a wide variety of activities and sights at affordable rates.
