Even experienced bass fisherman still love the feeling of catching a bass no matter what kind it is. So if you're new to the sport, then you have a lot to anticipate as you build on your knowledge.

You can read all the bass fishing stories and books you can find, but there's nothing that beats experience out in or on the water. Well, if you're smart you'll make every effort to learn before you burn - your time and money on trying to catch trophy bass. That big bass you heard about will give you a lesson in what not to do, and the only thing about that is you may not know what mistakes you made. As you can see, experience is the best teacher along with great articles like this.

Each year that a bass survives means it has a little more accumulated knowledge about fisherman and what they do.

When it comes to olfactory perfection, or their ability to smell, bass fish and large mouth are terrific in that department. So when you are baiting your hook, you are passing on your odors to the bait. The various odors you can put on the bait and hook will not magically disappear once it's in the water. Many types of fish are very sensitive to pressure on their bodies, but if they hear you walking, they're gone or hiding and won't come out for anything. Many of the bass have different names, and in this case we're talking about the black bass which is also the spotted bass. Most if not all bass will go for the similar kinds of foods, but you have to also bear in mind there are foods specific to their location. Small mouth bass are not as large as the spotted bass, but this type is not the largest by far. But on the other part of the equation, avoid taking them for granted because they're smart fish and you have to approach them with a strategy.

All bass have the ability to recognize you as being a threat because they can simply see you. Think about fishing for bass after a little rain or when the water has been turned up and it's not so crystal clear. Using the weather to your advantage also means that you will be seen better when it's colder. These are just a few of the considerations you'll want to think about with the weather and bass.

Bass are just as sensitive to various pressures and sounds like others, so you have to be careful in how you approach them. For example, bass are known to go after all kinds of bait and this gives you variety and options. Think about the different times of the year, and then that corresponds with the size of the bait you will want to use. The size of the hook you use will need to be matched with the bass species because of the mouth size.

If you want to refine your bass fishing game, then learn about rods as they are different. You can attain certain qualities with your casting if you use one rod made from something different. A stiff rod will give you a hook set that is much quicker, but the trade-off here is that stiffer rods are less sensitive which makes sense. Just keep in mind that there will be adjustments that will be needed depending on the rod you choose. There are bass fishing clubs that you should consider joining because it's a lot of fun. Don't forget that you can go next door to other states and find great fishing, as well. This is the fish that is found all over the world, and you know what that means regarding traveling opportunities.
