India is a country of exotic holiday destinations, blessed with attractive colours. It has lots of scenic landscape that are surrounded by magnificent beaches, backwater destinations, cultural treasures and historical and heritage places. There is an endless list of popular holiday destinations in India. Whether it is summer holidays, winter vacations or honeymoon trips, India is one of the most desired nations flocked by a large number of tourists every year from around the world.

The northern part of India has scores of hill stations which contributes to its serene and cool environment. However Southern India tourist destinations are famous for their golden beaches and backwaters. In Western part, where India boasts of its princely cultural heritage and opulent deserts, on the other part, North east India has a lots of hill stations renowned for tea gardens and adventure sports.

Shimla is famous named 'Queen of Hills' and is the capital of India. Found in the lap of Shimla, Himalayas was really a summer capital throughout British era. Shimla still retains its colonial charm and legacy. It's also popular as one of the most clustered honeymoon destinations of India.

Gulmarg is also known as Switzerland of India and it is located in the northernmost state of Jammu and Kashmir. Coated by the snow capped mountains, mainly famous for skiing, Gulmarg is thronged by a great number of adventure sports fanatics throughout the globe each year.

Varanasi is recognized as a sacred city and it is found on the banks of Ganga river in Uttar Pradesh. It is one of the eldest inhabited city of the planet and has been religious and cultural center from ancient period. It is also a center of education, art and literature that is recognized as city of temples.

Jaipur is the capital city of Rajasthan and it is famous as 'Pink City of India'. It offers the variation of being the first planned city of India. Some of the famous monuments of Jaipur are Jantar Mantar, Hawa Mahal and Amber Fort. It is also noted for its creative gardens and temples.

Kerala, also known as God's own Country', is home to Alleppey. It's one of the most popular backwater destination as it has an abundance of lakes, rivers and beaches. It is connected to the Arabian Sea on the west side. It is also recognized for Ayurveda therapy.

Goa is famous for its marvelous golden beaches. Situated in Southern part of India, Goa has some of the finest beaches in the world such as Calungute, Kolava and Anjuna. It's also one of the famous honeymoon destinations of India. Three famous things about Goa are fish, feni and cruise ride.

Another famous India holiday destination is Ooty, also located in Tamil Nadu. Each year a large number of vacationers visit Ooty to relaxed themselves in the natural splendor peaceful atmosphere of this hill station.
